Hi Melissa, I want to personally thank you for the excellent care that you gave Bailey & Pixie for us this weekend. You know how hard i find it to leave them both, but i felt totally at ease all weekend knowing they were both in your capable hands. Bailey is shattered, completely curled u with us on the sofa having cuddles. but i know how much fun he had on his walks with buster, paul and yourself this weekend. I know they are both looking forward to seeing you next month for some more fun time with Auntie Mel 🙂 Thank you again melissa, we honestly would be lost without you guys! Mel is great. Twix loves going out with her and is always eagerly awaiting her arrival. On several occasions, Mel has gone beyond the call of duty and always with a smile. Can't recommend enough .....

Melissa walks my dog Hugo once a week and he always comes back worn out and happy! I feel so comfortable with Melissa taking care of our Hugo as she is very quick to call for a chat should she feel Anything isn't right or she wants to check something and she is very helpful with her advice and tips from all of her experience with dogs. Thanks Melissa for giving Hugo such fun walks each week and for making it easier to leave him, safe in the knowledge that he will be walked and taking care of. Xx

Mel is a fantastic dog walker who has gone above and beyond what I expected. She has taught me a lot about my dog and how to get the best out of him. Can't recommend enough.

Melissa has always been wonderful walking our giant Newfoundland, Frank. She has been with us since he was a puppy and has worked with us to overcome lots of testing puppy behaviours. As Frank is such a big dog we have experienced fear and unwillingness from other professionals - however this has never been a problem with Mel. Instead, we have been given great information by Mel that has helped us as owners. I recently got married and ask Mel to stay with Frank for the weekend. As always, her professionalism shone through and I was informed how he had been over the weekend. She was also fantastic looking after my cat, Nyla. The biggest surprise of all was walking into my glistening house after the wedding! Mel had done an absolutely superb job cleaning my house - skirting boards, cupboards, windows, everything! Mel pops in on my two boys during the days when I cannot get away from work. She's keeps me updated with times and always does her best to accommodate my late requests! She goes beyond just looking after my dogs by also washing up their bowls and cleaning any mess they have made! I highly recommend Mel!

Mel is extremely reliable and always keeps me updated with times. My dog, Rocco loves her and I wouldn’t trust him with anyone else. It’s such a weight off my shoulders to know that Rocco is being cared for and walked while I am not here for him.

We would highly recommend Melissa!! She looked after Milo like he was her own dog and he grew to love her. She was always flexible if we needed to change his walking schedule. She's a very knowledgeable dog walker who loves her dogs !

Mel has only been walking our girl Trinity for about 3 weeks now but Trinity loves her and is always so excited to see her. Mel is a down to earth person who is very honest and flexible with our needs. So glad we found her! It has taken a weight off our minds knowing Trinity is in good hands with someone who also enjoys her job!

Mel came to my house to feed Belle, let her out and give her some much loved company. Such a lovely, professional lady! It’s the first time I have used a service like this and would highly recommend Mel ( and so would Belle). My mind was set at ease with pics of Belle and Tommy my tortoise! Would highly recommend Hair of the dog ....she is fantastic with dogs and fits in around us which helps us out soo much. Me and my girlfriend work in the city so, we know that Polly is meeting other dogs and is still getting her exercise......and it shows that Polly loves her walks with Mel too.

Our dog William has behavior problems. Mel will always help you out if you need to change the dates and hours. Can't recommend her enough !!! A big thanks for all the help

Mel popped in and fed our two young cats while we were away for a few days. She was lovely with them and sent us pics every day. Totally recommend her. 😁

Mel has been a fantastic walker for my 11 year old Black Labrador Paddy, for over a year now. He’s really happy and comfortable with her, and I am very confident to leave him in her care. She also is able to offer good advice, and care when needed. Highly Recommended!

After checking out different local services and reading hair of the dog reviews I decided to use service when I got my puppy. Before he could go out Mel would come to ours a puppy sit keep him company and play with him and now his able to go out he also has a walk. My work shedual is pretty hectic sometimes working from home sometimes out for longer hours, Mel always does her best to accommodate my diary. Oscar absaloutly loves his visits! Mel has been on hand to answer any of my puppy concerns and questions and is always happy to give advise.

I can not recommend Mel highly enough. I’ve used other dog walkers before but none have come close to the service Willow and I get from her. Willow loves going out with her and I can relax because I know she’s in excellent hands. Mel is totally reliable and makes every effort to accommodate us if we need to change anything about Willow’s walks.

Mel was absolutely brilliant as a first timer dog walker for us😊. she was very professional but down to earth and good with the dogs . I would definitely recommend her to anyone.

I am really pleased with our weekly walks - I have a young, bouncy and sometimes reactive GSDxMali and I wouldn’t trust just anyone to walk him. I needed someone confident and firm to walk him while I am at work. Mel is amazing, she is always reliable - with brilliant communication she always keeps me updated and has also helped us with many different dog related topics. You can tell she is really passionate and knowledgable about what she does. I am really happy to have found such a trustworthy but also lovely person in general to trust to look after my boy.

We have used Mel’s services for about 18 months now and sadly, due to financial circumstances, we have had to leave her - I cannot recommend Mel enough. She is knowledgeable, friendly, lovely to the doggies and we’re really going to miss her. I will be keeping her number in case things change. If you need a dog Walker, this is the lady for you . Mel is great with my cavapoo puppy, would highly recommend her without a doubt. she is always on time and if there is a problem she is on the phone straight away, gives great advice and always very helpful.

Mel has been walking my mini schnauzers for a while now and I trust her with them a lot. Mel shows a lot of confidence and knowledge and I never worry about my dogs when they’re on their group walks with other doggy friends. She takes all the necessary precautions to make them safe, and regularly updates me on how they’re doing. If you’re looking for a dog walker, Mel is the one!

Mel and her team have been walking nelly for a while now and I cannot recommend them enough! Nelly is always happy and tired after her walks and they go above and beyond for the animals in their care!

I’ve been using Mel now for just over a month with my pup Zuma! I initially contacted Mel before we had even found Zuma, her knowledge and advice was amazing - so I knew what breed I was looking for. I have had such a great experience using hair of the dog’s services! They answer any questions I have immediately and made me feel extremely confident and comfortable leaving my dog in their hands! We have a big dog who can be a handful to walk so I get nervous leaving him to be walked by other people. Mel and Harriet were just amazing and provided me with videos and updates on how he was doing so it made me feel so relieved that he was ok, would highly recommend them!

So grateful to Mel for moving in and taking such good care of our cocker spaniel, Pippa whilst we were on holiday. We could relax and enjoy our holiday knowing Pippa was being taken care of so well. Regular updates and photos sent and Mel never minded us asking for more photos and checking in. We had total piece of mind whilst away and Pippa didn’t seem to miss us at all. Excellent service that we would highly recommend and will definitely use again. We came home to a very happy dog and a cleaner home than we had left! We got married at That Amazing Place on 12th August 2023 and Mel acted as our very own dog chaperone for our little cavapoochon, Reggie. We were desperate for Reggie to play a part in our big day but were equally conscious that there were certain parts of the day that would perhaps be overwhelming for him or that weren’t appropriate for him to be at (e.g. the wedding breakfast). That led us to getting in touch with Mel. We were particularly demanding and fussy around the specific times we wanted Reggie to be around, when he would need a walk, when he may need a rest, how the weather in August may play into what he needs etc. etc. Mel however was so accommodating, understanding and knowledgeable put us at complete ease. Mel came to pick Reggie up just before our wedding breakfast and took him on a beautiful walk in the surrounding fields. She then brought him along to join in with our photos and mingling with other guests, walking around with him so everyone could say hi. Once Reggie then began getting a bit tired she took him to settle down in our room, give him lots of belly rubs and some final playtime before bed. We could immediately tell how comfortable Reggie was with Mel and how much fun he had with her. But Mel did so much more than act as a dog walker, chaperone and supervisor. She even gave us and our photographers some tremendous advice of beautiful surrounding fields that would be perfect for some wedding photos and joined us in bringing Reggie along to some of those spots to capture some beautiful pictures. Whether as a dog chaperone at your wedding or in any other capacity, you will feel at complete ease leaving your furry friend with Mel – her knowledge, accommodating nature, extremely friendly attitude and quite simply her relationship with dogs is second to none! Mel has been walking my Saffi for some time now. She is reliable and professional so I highly recommend her to anyone needing her services.

Melissa was absolutely amazing on my wedding day looking after my 2 mini schnauzers. She had them the night before, then took them for their quick groom before heading to the venue. She had the job of sending them running to me down the aisle during the ceremony. She then took them back home and rested them for the night. Melissa did everything perfectly and I’m over the moon. She’s extremely loveable and caring to my dogs. She is accommodating and made sure everything was discussed and agreed before the big day. If you want a dog chaperone, Melissa is the one!

We have used hair of the dog a couple of times now and Mel is an amazing dog sitter. Mel is very knowledgeable and extremely attentive. A lot of thought and careful planning goes into the boarding which is very reassuring when it comes to leaving your pet. Where possible Mel is flexible to meet your needs and understanding if plans change at short notice. I highly recommend!

Our dog had never been away from us before, so I was a bit nervous about leaving her. But Mel made the whole process easy and reassuring. She was professional throughout and kept us updated on Luna’s progress with plenty of messages. It’s safe to say Luna had a brilliant time and felt completely at home. We’ll definitely be using Hair of the Dog again!

We couldn’t recommend Mel enough! From start to finish on our big day she made sure our dog Alfie was well taken care of, and made it into the photos which absolutely made our day and took so much pressure off. In the hot weather Mel ensured that Alfie was kept safe and gave him regular breaks, while still letting him meet all the guests. Thanks Mel! Xx
