Wedding Chaperone Service
Are you planning a wedding? And have a furry member of your family that you would like to take part in your special day?
Our new service coming to ‘Hair of the Dog’ in 2020 is a bespoke wedding chaperone service, tailor made to each individual couple.
As the owner of 'Hair of the Dog' I know how important it is to have your dog be apart of your wedding. I got married in 2017 and always planned to have my dog 'Buster' be apart of my big day. So much so he walked me down the aisle with my Dad. Buster is a massive part of my family I love him dearly and wouldn't have it any other way. Which is why I want to provide a service for couples that are as passionate as myself to have their dogs play a part in their special day, to make it easy and enjoyable to have their furry loved ones take part.

- Initial consultation at your home with you and your dog
- Pick up and drop off at your chosen location before and after your wedding. We can provide a pet sitting service if required the day before your wedding, wedding night, or other days if required.
- Walk your dog before to any grooming appointment, so they are nice and clean prior to your ceremony and pictures.
- We can take care of your dog’s grooming on the day of your wedding, we can offer to take your dog to a trusted groomer that we use or we can take your dog to your chosen grooming parlor.
- Dress your dog in its chosen outfit/accessories also any last minute prepping/brushing will be done and we can even use a splash of organic cologne.
- Arrive at your venue at your chosen time, but would advise you that we arrive 30 minutes before your ceremony takes place. And we will help out with any duties regarding your dog.
- Comfort breaks, and watering are a good thing to have after the ceremony, also prior to any photos being taken. This will keep your dog settled throughout your day. There are a lot of people at weddings and sometimes it can be overwhelming for dogs. Depending on the time we spend with you throughout the day will depend on the amount of comfort breaks the dog will need. This is assessed throughout the duration of the time spent with you.
- Another walk prior to your dog being dropped off at your chosen location after the wedding.
Here are a few tips and advice of things you might need to consider in the lead up to your big day:
- What type of venue you book. Is it dog friendly? Are there outside areas to use for photos?
- Are there any guests with allergies attending the wedding? Do you need to inform them that your dog is attending?
- You might only want your dog to attend as a guest of honor. Or do you want them to play a specific role at your wedding? Ring bearer/flower girl/usher? Consider the type of temperate/training your dog has. Do you think they could cope with the attention and amount of guests attending your wedding?
- Are any outfits/accessories you want your dog to wear comfortable? If flowers are a chosen accessory make sure they are not poisonous.
- If you are being married by a registrar at a venue make sure they are aware that your dog is attending the ceremony.
- Make photographer aware that your dog is attending your big day so they can get some good ideas for photo opportunities.
At busy times of the year, and during the wedding season we advise you get in touch leaving plenty of time to avoid disappointment. We would love to hear your plans you have for your special day and how we can help you make your dog a part of it too.
